Curriculum
At Carville Day Nursery we believe in learning through play. Learning and developing should be fun. Our curriculum is always in conformity with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), but not bound rigidly to it. Preparing children for school is one of our key objectives, and we have a dedicated preschool room to achieve this.
AREAS OF LEARNING
Your child will mostly be taught through games and play.
The areas of learning are:
• communication and language
• physical development
• personal, social and emotional development
• literacy
• mathematics
• understanding the world
• expressive arts and design
For more information on EYFS please visit the government website here.

PRESCHOOL
It is our aim to create a cheerful and relaxed environment that encourages children to learn free from distractions or stress. We also aim to build every child’s confidence and independence so that they can flourish and grow. Our curriculum is designed to inspire through planned fun and enjoyable activities, both inside and outside the classroom.
It is our aim to equip all our preschool children with knowledge of the first stages of reading and writing so that by the time our preschool children leave Carville to start school, they are able to count to at least twenty, write their own name, do simple addition and subtraction, recognise all the phonics/sounds and are able to write any letter from hearing the phonics sound. However all the children always achieve counting up to much more than twenty and can write simple, short sentences with three or four letter words.
RECENTLY DENTAL HEALTH IS BEING STRONGLY PROMOTED BY THE GOVERNMENT
Here at Carville Nursery, we have always placed great importance on dental hygiene.
All of our children, including the babies, brush their teeth every day after lunch. Once a year we take the older children to visit a local dentist who explains to the children the importance of dental care. He shows them some of the equipment he uses and all the children take turns to sit in the dentist’s chair.
